Maria Magdalena Z’Graggen is an Italian/Swiss painter based in Basel who’s work focuses on color, space and the installation context. The artist’s binational background and upbringing made travels in foreign countries a formative influence early on. She has lived in Brazil and has been in residencies in the American Southwest, Cuba and Argentina. Her work has been exhibited widely in Europe, North and South America and South Korea. She has received awards from UBS Culture Foundation and Basel Arts Council among other. From 2009 to 2015 she was lecturer at the Institute of Art of FHNW Academy of Art and Design Basel. Maria Magdalena Z’Graggen is represented by the gallery Nicolas Krupp Contemporary Art.
